With the slogan “We are all one in the development of the art of magic,” an exceptional Eid Purnamilani was recently held at the National Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka. The auditorium was transformed into a lively gathering with the presence of renowned and emerging magicians from different parts of the country.

Not just for fun or entertainment, this event became the center of thinking about the future of the art of magic. The entire event was filled with dreams, resolutions and calls for organization.

The gathering organized on Friday afternoon was attended by renowned magicians Shaheen Shah, Based Mahmud, AK Azad, Badiuzzaman, Swapan Dinar, Bidesh Adhikari, Sadat Mamun, Sohag Khan, Raj Rani and many other talented and emerging artists.

Magician and organizer Shaheen Shah said, “Magic is not just a trick—it is a cultural legacy. We need a collective effort to instill interest in this art among the youth.”

Based Mahmud also voiced the organization’s appeal. He said, “We have to unite to ensure professional recognition and respect for magicians. This Purnamilani was a symbol of that unity.”

AK Azad echoed the same sentiment. He said, “If we can properly connect the talents spread across every region of Bangladesh, our magicians will be able to shine in the international arena as well.”

Swapan Dinar believes, “We need to not only teach the new generation tricks, but also teach them responsibility towards the art and human values.”

The idea of ​​forming a ‘magic school’ came up in the discussion, where regular training, research and workshops would be organized. The young artists expressed their interest in this matter in their speeches and said that an institutional foundation is essential for practicing magic.

Sadat Mamun said, “Many people still consider magic as just a trick. To break this misconception, we need to highlight the true importance of magic in society.

Sohag Khan said in his speech, “Magicians are part of society. They also need social status, state recognition and a secure future.”

The program included an exchange of views among the artists on magic shows, discussions on future plans and a moment to get to know each other.

The entire program was filled with passion, responsibility and a common goal—to take the magic industry to a respectable position.

A rural backdrop of the nineties, where Salman Shah’s romantic movies were shown on battery-powered televisions through VCRs. This telefilm is being made about the love, dreams, and ultimately the difficult reality of two young men who grew up around that movie.

‘Talkies Ghar’ is being directed by Kamruzzaman Putul. He has also written the story himself. Putul said, “In the nineties, watching VCRs in the village was like a festival. And Salman Shah was the centerpiece of it. I am bringing those memories back to the screen this time.”

The shooting of the telefilm will begin immediately after Eid-ul-Azha. A beautiful location in Manikganj has already been selected. Pre-production and artist selection work is underway.

In this context, the director said, “This telefilm will not only remember Salman Shah, but also the impact of his films, the beginning of love for the young generation, and the reaction of society—all will be in the story. It is not just entertainment, but also a piece of history of time.”

If everything goes well, ‘Talkies Ghar’ will be aired on a private television channel on September 6, the death anniversary of Salman Shah.
